Seeing God Differently: A Fresh Look at Our Unchanging Father is, in hindsight, is my “coming out”. At first I thought I was writing it to share my discoveries of the parent-first interpretations. In retrospect, I realize I had been writing to myself.
The “What about…?” questions were indeed asked by my church friends. But at the end of the day, I asked the same questions. In explaining to others, I explained to myself. It was a scary exploration initially. After discovering several biblical alternative parent-first interpretations, I started to see a pattern, and my confidence grew.
Several ideas did not a framework make; they formed only a trend. Studying under the professors at Tyndale University Seminary nailed it for me. Their collective wisdom and encouragements were instrumental in forming the coherent framework that supports the parent-first perspective of God.
I wanted to put all these thoughts in one place where a reader can go from one What about…? question to another, so that he or she can pursue a certain chain of thought. Except for the first two and the last two chapters, this book doesn’t really need to be read in sequence. A seeker of answers can hop from one chapter to another in just about any order.
The person I wanted most to share these thoughts with was, ultimately, myself. This book documents my paradigm shift and forms a foundation for me to continue my discoveries of the unfathomable parental love of God. Now, I want to share with as many as possible this fundamental shift in interacting with God and set them on their own discovery journey of God’s parental love.
